Project Consideration
When it comes time to consider interns for projects, Faculty Advisors and Business Management Leaders will select qualified students from the student database. Experience, course work, and availability are some of the criteria that will be evaluated.
Once the intern has been considered, he or she will be notified and requested to start the Financial Aid compliance portion of the process.
Please note that project consideration does not guarantee project selection. Project selection does not occur until after training.
Employee Eligibility Verification
Before the intern can be hired, he or she needs to complete the I-9 and EEV (Employment Eligibility Verification) process. To complete the process, the intern must go to the Office of Student Financial Aid, One Stop Student Services Building and request the EEV forms. Two pieces of documentation are required:
I-9 Compliance:
A photo identification that establishes identity. Acceptable documents are: a State-issued driver's license or a State-issued ID. card with a photograph, U.S. Military card or a student photo identification card.
- Documents that establish employment eligibility. Acceptable documents are: original Social Security Card, a birth certificate bearing a seal or other certification, or an unexpired INS Employment Authorization. The intern may use any of the following documents to establish both identity and employment eligibility: U.S. passport, Certificate of United States Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization or Alien Registration Card with recent photograph.
E.E.V.:Once the intern has completed the I-9 process he/she must obtain an EEV (Employment Eligibility Verification) form. The intern can request this form at the time that he/she completes the I-9 process. The EEV verifies that the intern has completed the I-9 process and that he/she is enrolled at least half-time.
Finally, take the forms to Beverly located in Bus 310 to complete this process.
Once the EEV process has been completed, the student will be notified of available training date(s).
Training
Training of the student intern, in preparation of their project, will be handled by the project’s BML and the Student Advisor that focuses in the course of study.
The focus of the training will depend on the nature of the project as Marketing and Information Systems projects will be handled and trained differently.
